Elite Squad

Entry into and continued membership in the Elite Squad is by coach assessment and invitation only. Swimmers must demonstrate the commitment, performance, and attitude required to train and compete at an advanced level. Progression into this squad and movement between groups is always at the discretion of the coaching team.

Training Commitment

• Swimmers must show a clear commitment to the squad through consistent trainingattendance. This is defined as attending a minimum of 3–4 sessions per week, depending on age and ability, as set by the squad coach.
• Failure to train with the squad for more than a two-week period - without prior written agreement (email) with the squad coach—may result in removal from thesquad.

Competition Requirements

• Club Championships: Participation in all Club Championship events is mandatory unless explicitly agreed otherwise with the squad coach.
• Team Galas: Swimmers are expected to be available for and compete in all team competitions, such as Arena League and Sussex League, when selected. These are essential commitments for Elite Squad members.
• Open Meets: Swimmers must attend relevant open meets as directed by the coaching team, to work toward County and Regional qualifying times.
• County & Regional Championships: Once qualified, swimmers are expected to compete at these meets, representing Eastbourne Swimming Club, unless otherwise agreed with the squad coach.

Performance Criteria

• Swimmers must have achieved a minimum of five Sussex County Championship qualifying times and ideally have attained Regional qualification times.
• Swimmers must be mentally, physically, and emotionally prepared to meet the demands of Elite Squad training and competition. Readiness will be assessed continuously by the coaching team during training and events.
